Founder of the Association Equilibre

When dramatic images of refugees in the Mediterranean were broadcast daily in the media in 2015, it became clear to Franz Huber: He couldn't help there – but he could help here. Driven by this, he founded the Association Equilibre (AE) , a non-profit, tax-exempt organization dedicated to promoting employment and education for refugees.

Franz Huber had previously volunteered for several years to help young refugees, arranging internships and apprenticeships – initially in the canton of Uri, and later beyond. His business contacts were a significant help. But he soon recognized a gap: While there were many opportunities for young people, there was a near-complete lack of opportunities for refugees over 26.

He encountered people who had been unemployed for years, had barely practiced German, and were falling into isolation and a lack of prospects. Together with his wife Yvonne Herzog, Franz Huber subsequently founded AE's largest project to date: JLT Company AG (JLT / KoKoTé) – a company with a social mission.
