Mentor Henry

The story of Mentor Henry

My name is Henry Euler. Before retiring, I worked as a teacher and special education teacher. I have three adult children who live in different parts of Switzerland. I live with my partner in Sisikon.

For a few years now, I've been working for KoKoTé, helping people with a refugee background improve their skills, particularly in mathematics and German, on a weekly, hourly basis. Together, we prepare for exams, work on the basics, learn mathematical relationships, learn new terms, and expand our vocabulary.

My current job differs in that I mentor adults, women and men, supporting them individually or in small groups and, in addition to concrete exercises, showing them ways in which they can find solutions themselves.

The women and men attend these sessions voluntarily. The weekly discussion of the topics is challenging for them, but they are also important steps toward sustainable integration. They are pleased with their learning progress, and alongside the challenging exercises, we often have fun and laugh together about one incident or another.

We also have discussions about general topics, go on company outings, attend a Christmas party, or visit a theater in which KoKoTé employees participate.

I have been working with some of the women and men for a long time now, and so I often meet former mentees in public, which often leads to smiling faces and good conversations.

I really enjoy supporting interested individuals and love talking about this work. I'm also a little proud that I can contribute to the development and integration of these people, and thus to improving their living conditions.

Finally, I would like to emphasize that I find this integration project “KoKoTé” to be a fantastic project, which, together with the factory, the vocational school, the mentoring and much more, is unique and outstanding and therefore deserves the highest recognition.
